ILOILO City – The Iloilo Business Club (IBC) held a mass market-matching event between local restaurants and hotels and farmers on March 7 at the Casa Real.

IBC president Lea Lara said the event aimed to help businesses and food producers meet and discuss potential deals.

Around 15 farmers and 10 hotel representatives attended the event, Lara disclosed.

The farmers were grateful for the chance to meet potential buyers for their crops. Lara said farmers usually only plant their produce without any thought for their markets.

β€œWala gid sila may ginadagdagan sang ila mga produkto,” she said, adding that they usually send their crops to the local market.

The hotel and restaurant representatives, on the other hand, shared that they appreciated the opportunity to meet new suppliers.

The IBC chief hopes to conduct more events in the coming months.

β€œIt’s just one of those initiatives that will allow networking with our local farmers,” she said.

The event was in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture, Iloilo Economic Development Foundation, provincial government and Iloilo Hotel, Resorts and Restaurants Association./PN
