ILOILO City – Citing their good performance, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) approved the appointments of the acting directors of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
Senior Superintendent Harold Tuzon is now a full-fledged director of the IPPO while Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, that of the ICPO.
PRO-6 director Chief Superintendent Jose Gentiles approved the endorsement of Iloilo’s Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. on Tuzon and Iloilo City mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog’s on Canieso, in General Order No. 282 dated March 8, 2017.
Defensor said he was satisfied with Tuzon’s performance, most especially in the campaign against illegal drugs and loose firearms, to keep Iloilo peaceful.
“I’m so thankful to Governor Defensor and to our regional police director for their trust. We at the IPPO will work harder,” said Tuzon.
Tuzon was appointed to head the IPPO October last year. Canieso, meanwhile, started leading the ICPO in June 2016.
“We have to work harder especially on illegal drugs, illegal gambling and other petty crimes,” said Canieso.
There were reports that Canieso may be transferred to the province of Aklan. The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) unanimously passed a resolution calling for his retention in Iloilo City.
“Under his watch, criminalities and illegal gambling in Iloilo City have gone down,” said Councilor Joshua Alim.
Normally, a police director’s tour of duty in a particular assignment is two years. Canieso is only into his nine months of service in the ICPO./PN
