ILOILO City – One person died while another was injured after a dump truck and a cement mixer collided Wednesday in Barangay Casalsagan, Pototan, Iloilo.
The fatality was identified as 43-year-old Wilfredo Aquino of Barangay San Gregorio, Lambunao, Iloilo. The driver of the dump truck, Randy Lucero, 35, of Barangay Poong, Lambunao was placed under detention by responding police officers.
Police reports showed the incident happened around 9:40 am. The dump truck driven by Randy Lucero, 35, of Barangay Poong, Lambunao, Iloilo allegedly overtook a vehicle driven by Herbert Zaragoza of Navotas.
However, the truck hit the cement mixer truck driven by Ronnie Tagnong, 43, of Barangay of Barangay Cubay, San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Tagnong sustained fractured right leg and bruises on the body.
Lucero’s helper, Aquino died while being treated at Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Pototan town.
Zaragoza however was reportedly unharmed.
Tagnong was confined in the same hospital while Lucero, who only complained of body pains, was now detained in the lockup cell of the Pototan police station, facing charges./PN
