ILOILO — A truck driver was hospitalized after his 10-wheeler truck slammed into a tree, trapping him inside the vehicle, in Barangay Gemumua-Agahon, Passi City, Iloilo on Saturday afternoon, August 29.
Police identified the victim as alias “Romel,” 57, a resident of the said barangay.
According to an investigation by the Passi City Police Station, the victim was driving home from his farm when he lost control of the steering wheel while navigating an uphill and winding stretch of the road, causing the truck to veer off course and slam into a coconut tree.
The heavy impact pinned the driver’s leg inside the vehicle.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Passi City noted that emergency personnel, together with Passi City Pride Responders, arrived at the scene around 5:40 p.m.
Romel was immediately transported to the Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital for further medical treatment./PN
