ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) got a much-needed boost.
One hundred police recruits took their oath as members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Nov. 8 at Camp Delgado here.
Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, regional police director, administered their oath.
“You are very lucky to pass all the requirements set forth by the PNP for you to be appointed as patrolman and patrolwoman on a temporary status,” Miranda told them.
He urged the recruits to commit themselves to training.
These 100 recruits are composed of 84 males and 16 females.
Reception rites followed after the oath-taking ceremony. This is a tradition of the PNP to prepare the recruits physically and give them insights on what to expect in the training center.
The reception was just the beginning, a step of removing the “civilian antiques” of the recruits and letting them embrace the regimented way of life.
“Ngayon magsisimula ang bagong yugto ng buhay ninyo. You will be trained to be public servants. Huwag ninyo sayangin ang pinaghirapan ninyo. Pagbutihin ninyo ang training at isapuso. We have to commit ourselves to be of service to the nation,” said Miranda.
The police trainees will undergo a six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at The Regional Training Center 6 in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, then followed by another six months of Field Training Program. These are requisites for their permanency./PN
