
BACOLOD City – Eleven passengers were injured after a public utility jeepney (PUJ) figured in a road accident around 9:20 a.m. on Monday, May 19, in Sitio Mambucano, Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
The victims were residents of Pulupandan town. They had rented the jeepney for a trip to a resort in Talisay City.
The vehicle was driven by Ian Mula, 43, also a resident of Pulupandan.
Three of the injured passengers were brought to the Talisay City Health Office for medical treatment, while others received first aid for minor injuries.
According to the Talisay City police, the jeepney was traveling toward Guerero Farm and was negotiating an ascending curved portion of the road when the incident occurred. The driver shifted from second to first gear but reportedly lost control when the vehicle suddenly moved backward, causing it to tip over and fall on its left side.
The driver is currently in the custody of the Talisay City Police Station pending further investigation./PN
