ILOILO City – Eleven persons were arrested for alleged illegal cock derby in Barangay Dawis Centro, Zarraga, Iloilo.
They were:
* residents Sherwin Candido, 39; Basilio Candido, 61; and Evan Candido, 42
* Ryan Christian Subejano, 24, and John Louise Sologastoa, 23, both of the town’s Barangay Inagdangan Norte
* Fernan Romeo, 22, of Hipodromo Street here
* Jetro Macendo, 27, of Barangay Ingore, La Paz district
* John Dhell Loyola, 27, of Barangay Malangharon, Dingle, Iloilo
* Arnold Gregorio, 42, and Leonardo Silvederio Jr., 30, both of Barangay Malagab-i, Cuartero, Capiz
* Jun Rey Romeo, 27, of Barangay Malinao, Basay, Negros Oriental
Police chanced upon them engaging in illegal cockfighting around 10 a.m. on June 20.
Recovered were two dead game fowls, cockfighting paraphernalia and P33,450 bet money.
The suspects were taken to the Zarraga police station.
They would be facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974./PN
