MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) will dispatch approximately 11,000 policemen across the country for the reopening of the school year and the resumption of face-to-face classes on Aug. 29.
PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo on Monday said law enforcers will be deployed near school campuses.
The cops are also directed to man police assistance desks, which will be installed in public and private schools as soon as classes start.
“Based on our established police assistance desks, around 11,000 will be deployed,” Fajardo said in a media briefing.
Mobile teams and cops on beat patrols in areas leading to the schools will also be assigned.
Fajardo said PNP will sustain police presence in academic institutions for the whole school year.
She also said PNP field commanders have arranged with schools to hold night classes and extracurricular activities.
PNP will launch its “Balik Eskwela” program for the school year 2023 to 2024 on Aug. 14.
Last Aug. 3, the Department of Education announced classes in public schools for 2023 to 2024 will officially start on Aug. 29.
Private schools may choose any date to reopen classes between June 1 and Aug. 31. (Faith Argosino © Philippine Daily Inquirer)
