ILOILO City – Thousands of electricity consumers across several municipalities in Iloilo’s 1st and 2nd districts will face a 12-hour power interruption on Saturday, July 11, as the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) undertakes critical upgrades at its Sta. Barbara Substation while Iloilo 1 Electric Cooperative, Inc. (ILECO 1) simultaneously carries out maintenance works.
The scheduled outage will run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., although power may be restored earlier depending on the completion of the work, according to ILECO 1.
NGCP requested the interruption to allow its technical team to replace surge arresters at the Sta. Barbara Substation, a critical component designed to protect electrical equipment from voltage surges.
During the shutdown, ILECO 1 will also conduct parallel maintenance and line works in affected areas to improve the reliability of its distribution system.
Municipalities that will experience the 12-hour blackout include San Joaquin, Oton, Leon, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Igbaras, Guimbal, and Miag-ao.
Portions of Maasin will also be affected, particularly barangays Linab, Punong, portions of Siwalo, Sitio Ignaripay, and the area from the Barangay Covered Gym to Marmolejo Stone Crusher.
In Alimodian, the entire municipality will lose power except the barangays of Sulong, Sinamay, Coline, Dalag, and Manguining.
Several residential areas in Pavia are likewise included in the outage, among them Savannah Subdivision, Lumina Homes, Eon Centennial Homes, Lessandra in Barangay Jibao-an; Green Meadows 1, 2 and 3, Centro Verde, West Ville Subdivision, Hacienda Verde, Montecillo Intimo in Barangay Pandac; and Monticello Villas, Avida, and Providence in Barangay Balabag.
Also affected are barangays San Jose, Sto. Angel, and San Antonio in San Miguel, as well as barangays Jibao-an, Balabag, and Deca Homes in Sta. Barbara.
“We humbly ask for your understanding on this NGCP scheduled power interruption. Power may be restored earlier than or as scheduled, so please consider all lines and electrical equipment energized,” ILECO 1 said in its advisory./PN
