ILOILO City – Fourteen fugitives, including six listed among the top 10 most wanted in Western Visayas, were arrested within a single day of operations conducted by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Data from PRO-6 showed that between the morning of September 9 and September 10, police units across the region carried out simultaneous operations that led to the arrests. The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the most number of arrests with five while the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) reported one arrest.
Among those apprehended was alias “Rod,” 49, of Barangay Pulao, Dumangas, Iloilo, who ranked No. 2 most wanted in the province. He faces three counts of rape by carnal knowledge (non-bailable) and two counts of rape by sexual assault with a total recommended bail of P400,000.
Also arrested were three women, all former bank employees from Oton, Iloilo. Alias “Dora,” 51, ranked No. 3 most wanted, is facing seven counts of violation of the General Banking Act of 2000 with a bail of P60,000 each, along with seven counts of falsification of commercial documents with a bail of P36,000 each. Alias “Ai-Ai,” 65, ranked No. 4, is facing 19 counts of violation of the General Banking Act of 2000 and 18 counts of falsification of commercial documents. Meanwhile, alias “Maricel,” ranked No. 5, is also facing 15 counts of violation of the General Banking Act of 2000 and 16 counts of falsification of commercial documents.
The three were arrested around 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, in their respective homes in Oton.
According to town police chief Lt. Col. Ahlie Estember, the three had gone into hiding after being charged by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) but eventually returned home, where police tracked them down after months of monitoring.
Another high-profile arrest was alias “Lyds” of Barangay Morubuan, Cabatuan, Iloilo. This No. 10 most wanted faces charges of illegal possession of explosives, attempted murder, and violation of firearms laws.
Meanwhile, alias “Jboy,” 25, of Barangay Bitoon, Jaro, Iloilo City, the No. 4 most wanted in the city, was arrested for two counts of homicide with a total bail of P144,000./PN
