ILOILO – A 14-year-old boy drowned in a river in Sitio Arigmis, Barangay Abaca, San Enrique, Iloilo, on Sunday afternoon, July 26.
According to Police Captain Dandy Ilalto, chief of the San Enrique Municipal Police Station, the victim identified as alias “Doy” went swimming in the river at around 2 p.m. along with 10 of his friends.
Police investigation revealed that the teenager leaped into a deep section of the river and failed to resurface.
His companions attempted to rescue him, but the minor was already unresponsive when his body was retrieved from the water.
The victim was rushed to the Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City, where attending physicians declared him dead on arrival./PN
