ILOILO City – Seventeen police personnel assigned at the Central Philippine University (CPU) coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination center of the city government tested positive for the illness.
According to Police Captain Eduardo Siacon, chief of the Jaro district police station, one of the cops exhibited coronavirus symptoms on July 29.
He immediately underwent isolation, Siacon told Panay News.
Siacon also recommended that all police personnel assigned in the vaccination site to undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction tests.
On July 31, 20 cops were swabbed including the symptomatic police officer. He and 16 others yielded COVID-19-positive results released on Aug. 2.
The infected personnel are currently at a quarantine facility.
Contact tracing was launched.
