MANILA – Of the 6,748 law graduates who managed to complete the 2017 Bar Exam, only 1,724 examinees passed, announced the Supreme Court yesterday.
The passers were 25.54 percent of the total examinees.
The Bar Exam was conducted on four Sundays of November last year.
A total of 7,227 initially took it but only 6,750 managed to complete the four Sundays, according to the Supreme Court.
The Bar Exam was administered at the University of Santo Tomas.
The 2017 Bar Exam chair Associate Justice Lucas Bersamin announced the results yesterday. The topnotcher was Mark John Simondo of the University of St. La Salle Bacolod.
Simondo got a grade of 91.05 percent.
In the 2016 Bar Exam, 59.06 percent of examinees passed.
Supreme Court data showed the highest percentage of Bar Exam passers was posted in 1954 (75.17 percent).
On the other hand, the lowest was in 1999 (16.59 percent).

* Rheland Servacio of the University of San Carlos (89 percent)
* Krizza Fe Alcantara-Bagni of St. Mary’s University (88.9 percent)
* Algie Kwillon Mariacos of San Beda College Manila (88.9 percent)
* Klinton Torralba of the University of Sto. Tomas (88.65 percent)
* Emma Ruby Aguilar of the University of Sto. Tomas (88.4 percent)/PN
