ILOILO CITY — An estimated 1,800 participants filled the streets of Iloilo City on November 16 for the “Run for e-Libraries,” a charity fun run organized by the Kalantiao Masonic Lodge 187. The event aimed to generate funds for the establishment of electronic libraries in public schools across Panay Island, an initiative that seeks to expand access to digital learning materials for students, particularly those in remote and underserved communities.
Runners of all ages — from students and parents to fitness enthusiasts and civic groups — joined the activity to show their support for improving education through technology. Organizers said the project is designed to equip schools with updated digital resources, helping learners keep up with modern educational tools. Lodge officials emphasized that each stride taken in the fun run symbolized a step closer to providing children with better learning opportunities. They added that the initiative reflects their long-term commitment to empowering young people who “dream big and deserve access to quality education.”
