ILOILO – Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. suspended two provincial government employees facing investigation for the alleged non-remittance of revenues generated by the Iloilo Sports Complex.
The suspension of Administrative Officer 1 Norlie De la Peña and Administrative Assistance 1 Randy Olmido will be for 60 days.
Defensor approved the suspension yesterday.
The two are being probed for serious dishonesty and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of service prescribed in the Revised Rules on Administrative Cases of the Civil Service.
Provincial Legal Office chief Atty. Dennis Ventilacion said De la Peña and Olmido were given 15 days to file their answer.
“There is no iota of doubt that probable cause exist” against the two for “acts in violation of administrative rules in the conduct of their respective functions,” read part of a recent fact-finding investigation conducted by the Provincial Legal Office.
Located in Barangay Magsasay, La Pas district, the Iloilo Sports Complex is a multiuse stadium. It is supposed to generate funds from rentals.
The sports complex has an Olympic-size swimming pool, a track oval, a soccer field, two volleyball courts, two basketball courts, two tennis courts, and four badminton courts.
In August 2015 a certain Leo Guerrero emailed Provincial Administrator Raul Banias urging the provincial government to investigate the alleged non-remittance of the sports complex’s revenues to the province’s coffers. (With a report from the Philippine News Agency/PN)
