2 Capiz barangays register dengue clustering

CAPIZ – Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever in this province are increasing.

Two barangays in Tapaz town have clusters of cases. These are Agpalali and Roxas.

Based on the Provincial Health Office (PHO) Dengue Case Bulletin, Capiz now has 43 cases of dengue from Jan. 1 to 31 — 152.94 percent higher than the 17 cases reported in the same period in 2022.

The 43 cases were from Tapaz, with 19 cases; eight from Roxas City; three from Pilar; two each from Cuartero, Dumarao, Jamindan, Panitan, and Pontevedra; and one each from Dumalag, Mambusao and Panay.

The PHO is urging the public to continue taking measures against dengue, especially the 4S strategy. 4S stands for search and destroy mosquito breeding sites; self-protection measures like wearing trousers and long-sleeved shirts and daily use of mosquito repellent; seeking early treatment; and support fogging/spraying only in hotspot areas where an increase in cases is registered for two consecutive weeks to prevent an impending outbreak./PN
