ILOILO – A pickup hit a motorcycle along the national highway in Barangay Anoring, Sara town, killing a couple and injuring their two children.
The fatalities were Glen and Rothel Asong, both 44 years old and residents of the town’s Barangay Posadas.
Their two injured children were Diane Grace, 18, and “Nicole”, four.
According to Police Lieutenant Isagani Tabares, deputy chief of police of the Sara Municipal Police Station (MPS), the pickup driven by Leone Agsamosam, a resident of Barangay Apelo, Sara, hit the motorcycle of the Asongs near the town’s district hospital on Saturday, Dec. 10.
Agsamosam told the police the headlights of a vehicle running from the opposite direction were too bright, causing him to hit the motorcycle.
The victims were on their way home when the accident happened, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Norlan Perante, police chief of Sara.
Glen died first. His wife and the two children were referred to a hospital in Iloilo City.
The Sara police said Rothel died while being transported.
Agsamosam, detained at the Sara police station, faces charges for reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide and serious physical injuries./PN
