2 dead in motorcycle collision

BACOLOD City – Two men died after two motorcycles figured in a collision in Barangay Camba-og, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Saturday night, June 15.

The 21-year-old Julius Cañete, a resident of the town’s Barangay Canduramao, and his backrider Robert Namo, 20, of Barangay Himaya, were brought to the nearest hospital.

Hinigaran police said Cañete succumbed to injuries on the different parts of his body while receiving treatment while Namo died early yesterday morning due to a head injury.

According to Police Master Sergeant Vedionold Peñalber, traffic investigator of Hinigaran police station, Cañete, Namo and another backrider Jones Moreo were onboard a Honda XRM on their way to Pontevedra town while driver John Michael Mendoza, 36, and his backrider Hazel Hogeboom, 43, were heading to in Barangay Camba-og when the two motorcycles accidentally collided.

Peñalber said that Honda XRM’s riders were not wearing helmets.

He added that Moreo, Mendoza and Hogeboom also landed in a hospital due to minor body injuries./PN
