ILOILO City – The two trainee police officers caught drunk while on duty three months ago were terminated, according to Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
Jacob John Ondrada and John Anthony Lubria were both members of the Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) class “Masidhi”. They graduated from the Regional Training School Western Visayas in March this year.
The police trainees did not face the usual administrative charges under the rules and procedures of the Philippine National Police (PNP) administrative disciplinary machinery; but they underwent deliberation by the termination board considering that their appointments to the police service were still temporary.
The termination board found the two officers guilty.
On June 5, a jeepney driver sought help from police officers along Diversion Road, Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao district.
According to the driver, two policemen were “sleeping soundly” in his jeepney.
The two cops later admitted they got intoxicated.
According to Miranda, the cases of the two were “aggravated” by Iloilo City being under a modified enhanced community quarantine where selling and drinking intoxicating liquor was prohibited./PN
