2 junior police officials sacked for subordinates’ liquor ban violation

ILOILO – The superiors of two policemen caught violating the quarantine-related liquor ban were relieved from their posts, too.

Police Lieutenant Colonel George Caño was the platoon leader of the 2nd Iloilo Mobile Force Company based in Barangay Cabaguhan, Batad, Iloilo.

He was the superior of Police Staff Sergeant Joe Marc Ebon of Barangay Cubay, San Dionisio town who was arrested in Barangay Velasco, Lemery, Iloilo on May 21 for transporting 69 boxes of liquor.

The other sacked junior police officer was Police Captain Victor Bacinilio, supervisor of the Police Regional Office 6’s (PRO-6) Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit.

Bacinillo was the superior of Police Staff Sergeant Jose Digcabo-on who was arrested in Barangay Nanga, Guimbal town on May 20 for an offense similar to Ebon’s.

“These junior officers failed to discipline their subordinates,” said PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan.

Caño and Bacinillo were placed on “floating status” in Camp Delgado, headquarters of the PRO-6 here.

“Commanders are expected to ensure internal discipline among their subordinates. Those who are remiss in this duty of effectively supervising their subordinates have no right to stay in their posts,” said Pamuspusan.

Meanwhile, Digcabo-on and Ebon were facing charges for violation of Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code and Republic Act 11332 in relation to Executive Order No.080 of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. placing the province under general community quarantine and imposing a liquor ban.

Both further face an administrative charge of grave misconduct./PN
