2 kilos of ‘shabu’ seized from 4 suspects in Balasan

ILOILO City — A major anti-drug operation by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) led to the arrest of four suspects and the seizure of approximately 2.06 kilograms of suspected shabu worth P14,008,000 during a buy-bust operation yesterday in Barangay Maya, Balasan, Iloilo.

Arrested were alias “Bimboy,” 46, married, a resident of Barangay Gogo, Estancia, and listed as a high-value individual; alias “Domingo,” 63, widower, of Barangay Maya, Balasan, classified as a street-level individual (SLI); alias “Jose,” 22, single, of Barangay Poblacion Norte, Balasan, also an SLI; and alias “Concepcion,” 21, single, of Barangay Ipil, Balasan, an SLI.

Police recovered 17 heat-sealed plastic sachets and four knot-tied transparent plastic packs containing suspected shabu weighing about 2.06 kilograms, along with P26,000 in buy-bust money, a caliber .38 revolver loaded with one live round of ammunition, and other non-drug items.

The operation, conducted at about 1:35 a.m., was led by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) Team 3 with support from the Balasan Municipal Police Station and the Provincial Intelligence Unit.

All suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

A separate charge for violation of RA 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, will also be filed against Bimboy./PN
