BACOLOD City – Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested two Malaysian nationals for alleged human trafficking, on Thursday morning, March 27, in Barangay Singcang-Airport in this city.
Police Major Justin Noel Josol, chief of CIDG-Bacolod City Field Unit, said the suspects aged 60 and 30 years old were caught through the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Phoebe Balbin of the Regional Trial Court – Branch 45.
One of the suspects, he said, has been staying in the city for more than a year. Both of them had expired visas.
Josol said they also rescued eight victims.
“Sila po ay binigyan ng false job offer. Hindi sila compensated, sila po ay force na nagtrabaho ng scamming, nagsimula sila sa simpleng registration,” he said.
The CIDG-Bacolod chief added that two ladies even worked as models.
“‘Yong pictures nila gagamitin sa fake accounts sa dating sites. Gagamitin ng mga workers (males and females) para e-misrepresent nila ang sarili na sila po iyon,” Josol claimed.
Prior to the raid, the CIDG-Bacolod received a complaint that the suspects allegedly offered their victims aged 25 to 30 to be models. Their photos were sent to foreign clients to be used for a love scam operation.
The suspects are now in the custody of CIDG-Bacolod, facing charges for human trafficking./PN
