BACOLOD City – For illegal cockfighting, two men were arrested in Purok 5, Barangay Ayungon, Valladolid, Negros Occidental.
They were the 19-year-old Joachem Andrie Araneta of Barangay Sagasa, Bago City, Negros Occidental and the 50-year-old Hernan Timblor of Barangay Lacaron, Valladolid, a police report showed.
Officers at the Valladolid municipal police station received a phone call informing them that there was an illegal cockfighting held in the area around 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
The officers led by Senior Inspector Junji Liba responded to the area and caught Araneta and Timblor.
Recovered from them were three game fowls, a green box containing 16 gaffs, and a tally sheet for bets, police said.
Araneta and Timblorb were detained at the municipal police station’s custodial facility and facing charges for violation of Presidential Decree 449, or the Cockfighting Law of 1974. (With Mae Singuay/PN)
