ILOILO — The provincial government, through the Provincial Cooperatives Development Office (PCDO), will hold the 2025 Provincial Cooperative Month celebration in the municipality of Janiuay.
The event aims to showcase the significant impact of cooperatives on community development and economic empowerment.
The celebration will be themed “Cooperatives United in Purpose and Action, Sharing Prosperity to Build a Better World”.
From October 8 to October 31, Janiuay will welcome cooperatives from across the province, highlighting their collective strength to transforming lives. The celebration will begin with an opening ceremony at the Janiuay Dome, set to attract participants and spectators eager to engage in a series of activities promoting the spirit of cooperation.
In a statement, the municipality of Janiuay stressed: “This is a celebration of the cooperative movement instrumental in shaping our communities. We aim to showcase how cooperatives contribute to building a stronger and more sustainable future.”
The month-long festivities will include:
* October 13 – Opening of the Trade Fair Exhibit at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol Lobby; 2025 Coop Congress.
* October 13-31 – Trade Fair and Exhibit showcasing various cooperative products and services.
* October 1 – The 2025 Coop Whiz Contest at Janiuay National Comprehensive High School, designed to promote knowledge and enthusiasm for cooperatives among young people.
* October 16-17 – Fundamentals of Cooperative Training to equip participants with the necessary skills for success in the cooperative sector (Janiuay, Iloilo)
* October 20-21 – Governance and Management of Cooperatives Training aimed at enhancing the leadership capabilities of cooperative members (Janiuay, Iloilo)
* October 24 – The Culminating Activity at the Janiuay Dome featuring highlight performances and community recognition.
* October 28-29 – RCDC Edubiz Summit at Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City, focusing on education and business collaboration.
Each district will be represented by designated shirt colors. Residents are encouraged to participate by wearing their respective district colors throughout the celebration, embodying the theme of unity:
* 1st District – Apple Green
* 2nd District – Maroon
* 3rd District – White
* 4th District – Mustard Yellow
* 5th District – Teal Blue
* Iloilo City Based Coop – Coop Shirt (Any Color)
* LGU Janiuay – Midnight Blue
The National Cooperative Month is celebrated every October under Republic Act No. 11502, which highlights the bayanihan spirit of cooperation. The month emphasizes the essential role cooperatives play in economic empowerment and sustainable development, promoting greater participation and understanding of the cooperative movement nationwide.
Key aspects of the celebration include the promotion of cooperative values, showcasing the vital economic contributions of cooperatives, and encouraging the growth of the cooperative movement.
