ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) is currently now processing the folders of applicants for the second cycle of promotion for calendar year 2020.

Overall, 2,139 have applied but only 1,472 will be promoted based on the approved quota for Western Visayas, said Police Lieutenant Colonel, chief of the PRO-6’s Regional Public Information Office.

Eighty-eight personnel are applying for the ranks of Police Lieutenant up to Police Major while 2,051 are applying for the ranks of Police Corporal up to the rank of Police Executive Master Sergeant.

All applicants have met the minimum qualification standard per rank and will undergo other phases of the processing:

* interview of the Promotion Board

* mandatory neuro-psychiatric examination of the Regional Health Service 6

* mandatory drug test which will be conducted by the Regional Crime Laboratory Office 6

After passing all the stages of promotion, the applicants will be ranked according to seniority or their time in grade on the present rank, individual performance, awards received and the interview, said Malong.

The promotion board ensures that the applicants are not just qualified but also deserving to get the next higher rank.

The effectivity date of the promotion for this cycle is Dec. 16, 2020.

Promotion is one of the ways of the Philippine National Police to lift the morale of the personnel, said Malong.

It is also a way to gauge the individual accomplishment or performance of the applicant, she added./PN
