ILOILO City – At total 225 new Philippine National Police (PNP) officers took their oath at the parade ground of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) yesterday.
Police Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, administered the oath of office of the new recruits.
Of the number, 35 were females who were recruited for this year’s attrition quota.
Attrition quota is intended to fill vacancies due to retirement, death, dropping from rolls, separation, dismissal, and resignation of PNP personnel from the police service.
According to Police Colonel Luther Lugo, the chief of PRO-6’s Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit (RRSU), this was the first recruitment for this year after a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The PRO-6, Lugo said, needs 300 rookie cops but only 225 passed the stringent screening process.
The new police officers are scheduled to undergo a six-month training at the training center in Negros Occidental and a five-month Field Training Program (FTP) in PRO-6.
After completing the trainings, the graduation ceremony will follow.
Villaflor added that after their graduation, they would undergo another training on Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC).
“While waiting for the BISOC, they would be temporarily assigned to different police stations across the region. Once matapos lahat na mga trainings, they would be assigned sa mga police stations na talagang kulang ng tao,” Villaflor said.
The PRO-6 chief reminded the rookie police officers the importance of discipline, dedication and integrity.
They must also remember the hardships they had to go through during the trainings to become organic police officers.
“Lahat na training ibibigay sa kanila para maging mabuti at disiplinadong police. This time the recruitment process was quite hard kaya 225 lang nakapasa,” Villaflor added./PN
