BACOLOD City – Twenty-three examinees from two law schools in this city passed the 2016 Bar examinations, results released by the Supreme Court on Wednesday showed.
The University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) has 13 new lawyers while the University of St. La Salle (USLS) has 10.
Passers from UNO-R are John Mark Camalon, Jose Maria Doza, Nicolie Diapen, Joselle Lea Geopano, Racel Malalu-an, Marianne Therese Malan, Russel Marvin Olado, Ray Parreñas Jr., Eljun Rico, Gabrie Sinco, Jonna Sorallo, Hannah Leah Tañoso, and Analie Villa.
The new lawyers from USLS are Jelen Grace Alberto, Irma Mari-Castro, Angeli de Leon, Cristina Nifras, Alexis Pia, Bethyl Joy Porras, Roxanne Solidarios, Christine Tan, Leanne Marie Torrato, and Merscha Tupas-Yriarte.
They are among the 3,747 passers, or 59.06 percent out of the 6,344 examinees who took the 2016 Bar examinations.
The latest figure and percentage are higher than the 26.21 percent or 1,731 out of 6,605 takers who passed the 2015 Bar examinations.
No examinee from Metro Manila-based schools made it to the Top 10.
This year’s topnotcher is Karen Mae Calam of University of San Carlos in Cebu City, who garnered the highest over-all rating of 89.05 percent.
Alanna Gayle Ashley Khio of Silliman University (88.95) is in second place; Fiona Cristy Lao of University of San Carlos and Athalia Liong of Andres Bonifacio College (88.80), both in third place; Allana Mae Babayen-on of University of San Agustin (88.75), fourth; Justin Ryan Morilla of Ateneo de Davao University (88.40), fifth;
Mark Dave Camaraol of Northwestern University (88.10), sixth; Anne Margaret Momongan of University of San Carlos (87.80), seventh; Jefferson Gomez also of University of San Carlos (87.70) eighth; Nia Rachelle Gonzales of the University of Batangas and Marie Chielo Ybio of Siliman University (87.50), both in ninth spot; and Andrew Stephen Liu of Silliman University (87.45), tenth.
