
KALIBO, Aklan – Data from the Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 showed 97,429 people in Aklan are still unvaccinated – that’s 23 percent of target population for vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
DOH-6 also reported that 215,946 people got their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines – which meant that 50.49 percent of Aklan’s adult population was now fully vaccinated.
The vaccines used were AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Gamaleya, Jannsen, and Moderna.
As of Dec. 13, 330,235 individuals or 77.22 percent of the vaccine-eligible population in Aklan had received their first shot.
The province also started giving booster shots to healthcare and frontline workers and senior citizens, while the pediatric population also received their Pfizer doses.
The case fatality rate (CFR) in Aklan is at 1.60 percent – lower than the CFR in the region of 3.11 percent.
The average daily attack rate per 100,000 population is at 0.02 percent in recent two weeks compared to 0.04 percent of previous two weeks.
The healthcare utilization rate in Aklan is at 1.47 percent, the lowest in Western Visayas. Only two patients were admitted as of Dec. 12.
The two-week growth rates on cases is at -33 percent from Nov. 26 to Dec. 9.
Health authorities noted a sharp decrease in COVID-19 infections after the massive vaccination drive among older people.
