269 ICPO personnel undergo surprise drug test

ILOILO City – A total of 269 personnel from the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) were subjected to a surprise drug test on Tuesday, March 3, at the ICPO headquarters in Camp Achilles D. Plagata, General Luna Street here.

ICPO director Colonel Wilbert Parilla initiated the testing by convening personnel for a conference, where the Iloilo City Forensic Unit conducted the screening.

The testing covered 31 police commissioned officers (PCOs) and 238 police non-commissioned officers (PNCOs).

Parilla emphasized that the activity ensures ICPO personnel remain drug-free, maintaining public trust and confidence.

“This initiative is a vital component of the Philippine National Police to strengthen internal cleansing program that aimed at preserving integrity, discipline, and professionalism within the police ranks,” he added.

The surprise test serves as a reminder that the fight against illegal drugs applies to everyone, including members of the police force. Parilla warned that any personnel who test positive will face administrative sanctions.

“We subject our own ranks to the same standards we expect from the community. Random drug testing is a test of credibility and accountability,” Parilla stated. “The public deserves a police force that is disciplined, trustworthy, and drug-free. ICPO will continue to intensify its internal cleansing efforts to ensure that every personnel serves with integrity and professionalism.”

The ICPO reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and its mandate “to serve and protect” by ensuring all personnel remain beyond reproach./PN
