ILOILO — Around 230 grams of suspected shabu approximately valued at P1,564,000 were seized from three suspects during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mostro, Anilao, Iloilo, on Saturday afternoon, July 4.
The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) identified the suspects as alias “Nonoy,” 41, a Barangay Drug Abuse Council (BADAC)-listed high-value individual; and aliases “Loy,” 33, and “Justin,” 23, both classified as street-level targets. All are residents of Barangay Mostro.
According to authorities, the sting operation took place around 5:48 p.m. following months of surveillance and intelligence monitoring regarding the suspects’ involvement in the illegal drug trade in Anilao and neighboring towns. Police noted that the trio were allegedly about to hold a drug session when the raid occurred.
The operation was executed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit Team 2, in coordination with the Anilao Municipal Police Station (MPS), Provincial Intelligence Unit, and the Regional Intelligence Division.
Recovered from the scene were six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of suspected shabu, the buy-bust money, and non-drug items.
The suspects are currently held at the Anilao MPS, with charges for violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) being prepared against them.
Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, PRO-6 director, lauded the operating units and emphasized the value of community-backed, intelligence-driven operations.
