ILOILO City – Three drug pushing suspects were arrested in a buy-bust operation of the police in Barangay Desamparados, Jaro district. One of the suspects was a 16-year-old lad.

Mhel Maayo, 21, of Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao district and Alexis John Lim, 21, of Barangay Simon Ledesma, Jaro, were taken to the Jaro police station.

The minor, on the other hand, was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Police recovered from Maayo 49 sachets of shabu valued at P70,000.

Maayo was classified a high-value target, according to the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU).

The sting operation was carried out around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. An undercover RDEU officer bought from the suspects shabu worth P10,200.

Senior Inspector Kennith Bermejo, RDEU chief, said Maayo was arrested in an antidrug operation last year.

Maayo was subsequently charged with visiting a drug den but was allowed to post bail.

On the other hand, Lim was a drug surrenderer last year, said Bermejo.

The suspect s parents and a brother were drug  suspects, too, and are currently detained at the Iloilo District Jail in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo, said  the RDEU chief.

The three suspects were believed to be connected with the Prevendido drug group.

They face a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
