BACOLOD City – At least 30 illegal structures were dismantled during a joint clearing operation along Adela Market in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City, on October 30, following complaints that vendors were obstructing public roads.
Executive Assistant Levy Pangue, focal person of the City Enforcement Team of the City Legal Office (CLO), said the operation was conducted in coordination with the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department (BTTMD), Barangay Mansilingan officials, and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
Pangue said the clearing operation was launched in response to complaints lodged through the Bacolod Hotline 6100, the CLO, the barangay, and the city’s online reporting channels.
The operation followed the vendors’ failure to comply with the October 26 deadline stated in final notices ordering them to vacate the affected areas.
Residents had repeatedly complained about vendors occupying portions of the roadway and vehicles parking on both sides of the street, resulting in road obstructions and traffic difficulties around the market.
Under a Barangay Mansilingan ordinance, parking is allowed on only one side of the road.
The city government reiterated its commitment to keeping public roads and sidewalks free from obstructions to ensure safer and more accessible streets for motorists, pedestrians, and nearby residents, Pangue said./PN
