ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) announced that around 300 police personnel have been deployed to Guimaras to ensure the safety and security of locals and tourists during the weeklong Manggahan Festival 2025.

In a Panay News interview, PRO-6 spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis confirmed that the regional police office is mobilizing hundreds of personnel in coordination with the Guimaras Provincial Government.

“PRO-6 fully supports and commits its resources to the local government unit (LGU) of Guimaras to ensure that the festivity is safe, peaceful, and orderly, wherein tourists enjoy their visit in the province,” said Solis.

The deployed personnel came from various units, including the Guimaras Police Provincial Office and augmentation forces from neighboring provinces and specialized units. These officers were tasked with crowd control, traffic management, anti-criminality operations, and general peacekeeping duties across major festival venues.

Solis also assured the public that contingency plans have been prepared for any untoward incident.

“We are working closely with the LGU and other security agencies to make sure that the public can celebrate without fear. We ask for everyone’s cooperation and vigilance,” he added.

The PRO-6 further advised festival-goers to remain alert, secure their personal belongings, and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police personnel or station.

The Mangahan Festival, celebrated every May, is Guimaras’ biggest cultural and tourism event, known for its mango-themed activities, street dancing, agri-trade fairs, and community performances. The provincial government is expecting thousands of visitors this year./PN
