ANTIQUE – Over 3,000 senior citizens from 36 barangays of Patnongon town received their social pension for the first semester of this year, or from January to June.
Each senior citizen received P3,000, or P500 per month, from the Social Pension Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The social pension was distributed at the municipal covered gym on May 12.
Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) officer-in-charge Salvacion Valero led the distribution along with personnel from DSWD-6.
On behalf of Mayor Johnnyflores S. Bacongallo, Vice Mayor Thomas V. Bacaoco extended his gratitude to the DSWD for helping indigent senior citizens.
Bacaoco also advised the recipients to spend the financial aid on priorities such as maintenance medicines and healthy food, among others. (With a report from the Municipality of Patnongon)/PN
