BORACAY ISLAND – Around 307 accommodation establishments in this tourism island are now allowed to accept guests after compliance with the requirements set by the Boracay Inter Agency Task Force (BIATF).

The island now offers around 10, 982 rooms to local and foreign tourists.

The updated list of accredited establishments was posted on the Department of Tourism – Philippines Facebook Page last Jan. 15, 2019. Added recently to the roster are the two Henann Properties, namely, Henann Crystal Sands and Henann Palm Beach Resort.

Atty. Helen Catalbas, DOT-6 regional director stressed that “in order to uphold tourism standards, establishments engage in tourism business must secure DOT accreditation.”

Along with the accreditation certificate and tourism quality seal, accredited establishments will have access to participate in travel fairs, exemption from liquor ban, endorsement to airports and embassies, trainings and seminars. Accreditation for tourism primary enterprise is valid for two years.

Even before Boracay was opened to tourists, DOT VI personnel have focused on accrediting tourism establishments that are compliant. Aside from the additional requirements of BIATF, accommodation establishments must secure valid mayor’s permit, comprehensive general liability insurance, DTI or SEC registration certificate and notarized application form that is subject for evaluation of accreditation officer.

For assistance, DOT -6 Boracay Field Office is located at D’ Mall and open during office hours from Monday to Sunday./PN
