CAPIZ – Keeping his promise, Capiz governor Fredenil Castro returned to the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) on Aug. 4 and brought with him a medical team to check the health of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) therein.
The 62-member medical team was composed of 10 medical doctors, eight dentists, nine dental aides, 10 nurses, 10 nursing aides, and 10 personnel from the TB Pavilion, the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital; Bailan, Mambusao, Dao and Tapaz district hospitals.
They were able to serve 363 PDLs.
“Tungod ari kamo sa sulod, atipanon namon ang inyo mga kabataan nga luyag mag- eskwela kag ang inyo mga miembro sang pamilya nga nagakinahanglan sang pagpabulong. Kon wala sang ikasarang, pakadtuon ninyo sa akon talatapan,” Castro told the PDLs.
According to PHO head Dr. Ramon Alex Nolasco, some 210 PDLs availed themselves of medical check- up while 98 had dental check-up. Fifty-five underwent sputum test.
Castro thanked the medical teams from various hospitals and the PHO for working together for the medical mission.
According to Capiz Provincial Board member Thea Faith Reyes who chairs the Sangguniang Panlalawigan’s Committee on Health, the governor is mulling to make this medical and dental activity for PDLs a regular activity.
The governor, during the activity, was joined by Vice Gov. James Magbanua, Reyes, Provincial Board member Elmer Arevalo and former Provincial Board member Wilde Apolinario./PN
