4 ‘kaps’ won’t take oath before Bing

BACOLOD City – Four barangay captains are not taking their oath of office before Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Kontra niya kami (He’s against us),” said one of the four village chiefs, Alfredo Talimodao Jr. of Barangay Granada.

They will take their oath before Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. of Negros Occidental instead.

Other village chiefs who will take their oath of office before Marañon are Jerry Tingson of Barangay Estefania, Angelito Abaring of Barangay Bata and Nelson Ligaya of Barangay 16.

They were among barangay officials in this city – five captains and 200 kagawads – who will take oath before the governor, Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Stephen Paduano said in a report.

Another barangay captain named on the list, Joseph Antony Ortillo of Barangay 25, denied that he would take his oath before Marañon.

Nakibot gid ako nga ara ang ngalan ko sa balita (I was surprised that my name was on that report),” Ortillo said.

Ortillo clarified that he remains allied with Grupo Progreso, a local political group led by Leonardia.

Talimodao was one of the 36 barangay captains who complained about Leonardia’s alleged partisanship in distributing financial assistance to only 25 barangays in April.

Granada was one of the barangays that were not given the aid from the city government./PN
