4 WV provinces agri losses from ‘habagat’, ‘Goring’ top P356M

ILOILO – A total of P356,128,079.72 in agricultural damages were reported in four provinces in Western Visayas due to the southwest monsoon or habagat enhanced by Typhoon “Goring.”

Here is the breakdown of the P356,128,079.72 agricultural damages per province:

* Antique – P77,217,342.13

* Iloilo – P118,763,543.48

* Negros Occidental – P144,515,202.04

* Guimaras – P15,631,992.07

Data from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) 6 also showed that as of yesterday afternoon, a total of 11,357 farmers in the region were affected: Antique – 3,531 farmers; Iloilo – 3,500 farmers; Negros Occidental – 3,735 farmers; and Guimaras – 591 farmers.

Damaged agricultural products included 386.54 hectares of palay, corn, and other high-value crops.

Moreover, RDRRMC-6 recorded 180 totally damaged and 933 partially damaged houses.

Here is the breakdown of the damaged houses:

* Antique – 362 houses (64 totally damaged, 298 partially damaged)

* Negros Occidental – 579 houses (93 totally, 486 partially damaged)

* Iloilo – 165 houses (21 totally damaged, 144 partially damaged)

* Aklan – one partially damaged

* Guimaras – six houses (two totally damaged, four partially damaged)

As of Sept. 4, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 has released P24,364,153.27 worth of assistance for the provinces of Antique, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental:

* family food packs – P15,717,508

* financial – P7,924,493.27

* hot meals, clothing, and bottled water – P38,700

* hygiene kits – P524,300

* sleeping kits – P68,752

* modular tents – P90,400/PN
