40 traffic aides assigned at drainage project area

BACOLOD City – A total of 40 traffic enforcers were deployed to Lacson Street in Barangay Mandalagan as the construction of a flood control system there is ongoing.

City District Engineer Abraham Villareal said the project aims to solve the flood problem in the city, which isoften feltduring episodes of heavy rains.

Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO), said that even though the installation of the drainage system is conducted during nighttime, motorists are still having a hard time passing through the area at daytime.

The project occupies one lane of the road, he added.

BTAO personnel will be there to facilitate motorists for a smooth flow of traffic, said Acebuche.

He also stressed that they are working closely with the Department of Public Works and Highways. The latter has informed him that the drainage construction is targeted to be finished within 90 days.

Acebuche, however, said the completion of the project will still depend on weather conditions and other factors.

The project started last month./PN
