CAPIZ – A total of 45,000 Capiznons were able register as new voters with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) here for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections this Dec. 5.
Capiz provincial election supervisor Atty. Wil Arceño said said majority of the registrants were youngsters for the SK poll.
Around 27,000 of those who registered were aged 15 to 17 years old while 18,000 were regular voters or 18 years old for the barangay election.
Voters’ registration which opened on July 4 concluded on July 23.
Arceño said the registration may only be extended if the barangay and SK elections are postponed.
Several lawmakers are backing a proposed measure pushing for the deferment of the elections from December 2022 to December 2023./PN
