496 fugitives apprehended in a month

ILOILO City – Police units under the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) apprehended a combined 496 wanted individuals across Western Visayas during a month-long operation in March.

Records from PRO-6 showed that 482 police operations led to the capture of these individuals through coordinated efforts and voluntary surrenders.

Of the 496 detainees, 72 were identified as most wanted, belonging to the top 10 list, while the remaining 424 were apprehended for lesser offenses.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) recorded the highest number of arrests at 29, followed by the Negros Occidental PPO with 16, and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) with nine.

Other contributions came from Antique PPO with seven, Capiz PPO with five, Iloilo City Police Office with four, and Aklan PPO with two.

In terms of arrests for lesser offenses, Negros Occidental PPO led with 190 arrests, followed by Iloilo PPO with 84, BCPO with 39, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) with 35, Antique with 30, Capiz with 22, Aklan with 15, and Guimaras with nine.

These arrests stemmed from intelligence-driven operations and the dedication of police officers to pursuing individuals with outstanding arrest warrants, said Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis of the PRO-6.

PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky commended all units for their contributions to the campaign against wanted persons.

“I congratulate all personnel on these accomplishments, which reflect your commitment and perseverance in apprehending these individuals. However, I urge you to increase efforts and dedicate more resources to tracking down the remaining fugitives to ensure they are held accountable by the law,” said Wanky./PN
