5-month-old baby survives San Jose jeep crash

SAN JOSE, Antique – A 65-year-old passenger died and 37 others were injured, including a 5-month-old baby, in a road mishap in Barangay Supa.

Police reports showed the jeepney driven by 32-year-old Isidro Rizardo of Barangay Pojo, Bugasong Antique plunged into a canal after a Tipulo tree fell on the vehicle around 2:30 p.m. on June 3. It was carrying passengers on its way to Valderrama, Antique from the capital town.

According to police investigators, strong winds and heavy rain are the factors why the tree fell.

The victims were brought to the Angel Salazar Memorial Hospital in San Jose, Antique where the attending physician declared Editha Aquino of Barangay Takas, Valderrama “dead on arrival.”
