BACOLOD City – About 50 kilograms of illegal drugs are shipped to Negros Occidental every month, according to an asset of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Alfredo Hulleza – also a barangay kagawad of Bantayanon, Calatrava, Negros Occidental – disclosed this at a press conference in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Hulleza is one of the PDEA assets in the Aug. 8 operation that led to the recovery of six kilograms of shabu in Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The illegal drugs are transported via roll on, roll off vessels or motorboats from Cebu, according to Hulleza.

He claimed that politicians in the 1st District of Negros Occidental are protecting an illegal drug cartel that is responsible for the 50-kilogram drug shipment in the province.

This drug cartel – which also perpetrates illegal gambling activities – is based in San Carlos City, added Hulleza.

Hulleza identified some politicians allegedly protecting the drug cartel. This paper withheld their names.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said Hulleza’s statement will be validated, adding the he will refer it to the Police Regional Office 6./PN
