ILOILO – The provincial government released P5.4-million financial assistance to 554 farmers whose hogs were hit by the African Swine Fever (ASF).
Below is the breakdown:
* Oton – P1.745 million for 198 farmers
* San Miguel – P1.374 million for 121 farmers
* Alimodian – P194,000 for 17 farmers
* Leganes – P373,000 for 39 farmers
* Mina – P89,00 for nine farmers
* New Lucena – P180,000 for 14 farmers
* Santa Barbara – P450,000 for 46 farmers
* Barotac Viejo – P604,000 for 68 farmers
* Barotac Nuevo – P437,000 for 41 farmers
* Pototan – P30,000 for one farmer
A financial aid ranging between P7,000 and P30,000 was given to the beneficiaries based on the assessed number of affected hogs, as stipulated in Executive Order (EO) No. 545 Series of 2022 issued by Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.
Based on the EO, the amount of financial assistance to affected farmers is based on the number of swine heads, whether sow, fattener or young swine (except sucklings) as follows:
* one to five hog heads – P7,000
* six to 10 hog heads – P10,000
* 11 to 15 hog heads – P15,000
* 16 to 20 hog heads – P20,00
* 21 to 25 hog heads – P25,000; and
* 26 hog heads and above – P30,000.
As of March 13, 24 municipalities covering 114 barangays have been affected by ASF.
These were Oton, San Miguel, Alimodian, Leganes, Santa Barbara, New Lucena, Mina, Barotac Nuevo, Dumangas, Banate, Barotac Viejo, Zarraga, Janiuay, Badiangan, Dueñas, San Dionisio, Batad, Dingle, Estancia, Pototan, Concepcion, San Enrique, Ajuy, and Balasan./PN
