MANILA – Six rookie applicants who trace their roots to Western Visayas are hoping their names would be called during the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft today at Robinsons’ Place in Ermita, Manila.
Former De La Salle University Green Archers guard Kib Montalbo, former San Beda University Red Lion Jeramer Cabanag and former Lyceum Pirate Spencer Pretta all trace their roots to Bacolod City.
La Carlota City, Negros Occidental native Edgar Charcos, formerly of the University of the East Red Warriors and University of Perpetual Help Altas, also submitted his application for the draft.
Also from Region 6 are former Red Lion Clint Doliguez who is from Oton, Iloilo and former College of St. Benilde Blazer Yankie Haruna who is from Barangay Palanguia, Pototan, Iloilo.
Others participating in the draft are Justin Alano and Simon Camacho who played for Bacolod Master Sardines, as well as Richard Escoto and Rey Publico of the Iloilo United Royals.
This year’s PBA Rookie Draft will feature Gilas Pilipinas special draft among Isaac Go, Mike and Matt Nieto, Allyn Bulanadi and Rey Suerte, who will be chosen by Columbian Dyip, Blackwater Elite, NLEX Road Warriors, Alaska Aces and Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
After the special draft, the regular draft will proceed with the teams picking from the 66 aspirants. Dyip will once again select first followed by the Elite, Road Warriors, Aces and Painters.
The Painters will have two more selections after that followed by NorthPort Batang Pier, Magnolia Hotshots, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings, TNT KaTropa and the Dyip to conclude the first round./PN
