BACOLOD City – Sixty schools in Negros Occidental are ready to implement the expanded face-to-face (F2F) classes.
The division of Negros Occidental alone has 16 schools ready, data from the Department of Education (DepEd) in Western Visayas showed.
Also, there were 15 such ready schools in the schools division of Silay City; 11 in the Sagay City Schools Division, eight in the San Carlos City Schools Division, four in the Cadiz City Schools Division, three in the Escalante City Schools Division, two in the Himamaylan City Schools Division, and one in the Victorias City Schools Division.
Dr. Ramir Uytico, Department of Education regional director, said they would implement the expanded F2F classes if the alert status in all provinces in Western Visayas will go down to Alert Level 2.
Right now face-to-face classes at all levels are prohibited under Alert Level 3.
Iloilo city and province and the island province of Guimaras remain under Alert Level 3 until Feb. 28 while the rest of the region is now under Alert Level 2.
Under Alert Level 2 — the second lowest in the alert level system — certain establishments and activities are allowed to operate at 50 percent capacity indoors for fully vaccinated adults (and minors, even if unvaccinated), and 70 percent capacity outdoors.
Under Alert Level 3, on the other hand, several establishments are allowed to operate at 30 percent indoor venue capacity but exclusively for fully vaccinated people, and 50 percent outdoor venue capacity as long as employees are fully vaccinated./PN
