63 Region 6 fugitives arrested in weeklong police crackdown

ILOILO City – A weeklong manhunt operation by the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) has led to the capture of 63 fugitives across Western Visayas, including 19 suspects wanted for heinous crimes such as rape and robbery.

Records from PRO-6 revealed that from October 20 to 26, simultaneous operations under “Birada Semana” yielded the arrests, with the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) posting the highest number at 28, followed by Antique with 19.

The rest came from other provincial and city police offices, as well as the Regional Mobile Unit.

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, PRO-6 director, said the results underscore the police force’s commitment to relentlessly pursue lawbreakers and ensure that fugitives are brought to justice.

“These accomplishments reflect the relentless efforts of PRO-6 in tracking, locating, and apprehending fugitives throughout the region,” Ligan said.

He lauded all operating units for their dedication, noting that the success of the operations was made possible through enhanced police visibility, stronger intelligence coordination, and community partnership.

“The arrest of these wanted persons is a strong reminder that justice will always prevail. No criminal can hide from the law. I commend our personnel for their relentless effort and the public for their continued cooperation, which greatly contributed to the success of our operations,” Ligan added.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting information on wanted persons or suspicious activities through 911 or the nearest police station./PN
