ILOILO City – A total of 66 local government units (LGUs) in Western Visayas were honored with the 2022 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) by the Council for the Welfare of Children Board (CWCB) for promoting child welfare.
The award was conferred during a ceremony held on November 11 in Mandurriao district here.
The recipients of the SCFLG were from the following provinces:
* Antique – Barbaza, Laua-an, Patnongon, San Jose, Sebaste, Sibalom
* Aklan – Balete, Batan, Buruanga, Ibajay, Kalibo, Lezo, Nabas, New Washington
* Capiz – Cuartero, Dao, Dumarao, Ivisan, Jamindan, Maayon, Sapi-an, Tapaz
* Guimaras – Buenavista, Nueva Valencia, San Lorenzo, Sibunag
* Iloilo – Alimodian, Anilao, Banate, Batad, Bingawan, Cabatuan, Passi City, Concepcion, Dingle, Dumangas, Guimbal, Igbaras, Tigbauan, Lambunao, Leganes, Leon, Maasin, Miag-ao, Mina, New Lucena, Oton, Pavia, Pototan, San Joaquin, San Rafael, Santa Barbara, Zarraga, and Iloilo City
* Negros Occidental – Bago City, Cadiz City, Talisay City, Himamaylan City, Hinoba-an, La Castellana, La Carlota, Manapla, Murcia, Victorias City, and Silay City
Local chief executives and representatives from government agencies and LGUs attended the event, which was held in line with the National Children’s Month celebration.
This year’s theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines,” underscored the importance of fostering child-friendly environments and prioritizing children’s rights.
SCFLG is part of efforts to ensure a safe, nurturing environment for children.
The CWCB comprises the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Education (DepEd), and other government agencies./PN
