7% of Iloilo’s AstraZeneca orders delivered

ILOILO – Only seven percent or 18,900 out of the 270,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine ordered by the provincial government have so far been delivered here.

On Aug. 23, the provincial government received a total of 11,200 doses – the second tranche of the AstraZeneca orders.

The 11,200 doses were distributed equally to 43 local government units (LGUs), according to Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr.

These jabs would be used to vaccinate those who belonged to the A1 to A4 categories (healthcare workers, senior citizens, persons with comorbidities and economic frontliners).

The provincial government received the initial delivery of the AstraZeneca shots on July 16 in 7,700 doses.

The province is now waiting for the next tranches. Defensor hopes AstraZeneca’s delivery will speed up.

As of Sept. 1, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO), a total 309,835 eligible individuals, or 21 percent of its target population (1,448,757) have been given their first doses.

Iloilo province has a total population of 2,069,653.

Those who received their first doses were:

* health care workers – 54,143

* senior citizens –  95,571

* persons with co-morbidities – 108,021

* uniformed personnel (A4) – 40,386

* indigent population – 1,714

Meanwhile, a total of 196,383 or 14 percent of the province’s target population have completed their vaccinations:

* health care workers – 32,351

* senior citizens – 38,614

* persons with co-morbidities – 33,659

* uniformed personnel (A4) – 1,966

* indigent – one

As to the brand used for inoculation, 31,885 received the AstraZeneca vaccine; 71,791 got Sinovac; 2,910 got Pfizer; five got Moderna; and 89,792 got Janssen.

Here are the top five LGUs with high vaccination accomplishment: Passi City (8,644), Oton (8,598), Pototan (7,943), Miag-ao (6,457), and Lambunao (6,223).

Meanwhile, the LGUs with the lowest vaccination accomplishment were San Rafael (1,722), Bingawan (1,848), Igbaras (2,520), New Lucena (2,633), and Tubungan (2,655).

Defensor announced that the province is expecting 50,000 more doses of Sinovac and more than 3,000 Pfizer jabs from the national government.

This would be equally distributed to Iloilo’s 43 LGUs./PN
