75,000 Iloilo City public school learners to get free school supplies

ILOILO City – Around 75,000 public school learners in Iloilo City will receive free school supplies from the city government for School Year 2026-2027, as the local administration ramps up efforts to ease the financial burden on families and boost educational support across all grade levels.

Mayor Raisa Treñas announced the initiative during a school supplies distribution activity at Iloilo City National High School, emphasizing the city government’s commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind despite rising back-to-school expenses.

Dako ang ginapreparar sang kada pamilya sa kada pagbukas sang klase, halin sa school supplies, uniform, sapatos, allowance, kag ang paglaum para sa mas maayo nga palaabuton sang ila kabataan,” Treñas said.

The mayor said the program covers all learners from Kindergarten to Senior High School enrolled in the city’s public schools.

“Amo gani nga ginpabakod naton ini nga programa agud makabulig sa aton mga pamilya kag masiguro nga wala sang learner nga mapabay-an,” she added.

Treñas said 51 of Iloilo City’s 66 public schools have already benefited from various development projects under the city’s education improvement program.

“We are working so that by next year, all 66 public schools in Iloilo City will receive support and development projects,” she said.

The mayor reiterated that education remains a priority of the city government and assured students of continued support throughout their academic journey.

“We believe in you, we support you, we trust in you. The Iloilo City Government is behind you every step of your educational journey,” she said./PN
